Barbara Laban Admin/Finance Officer at Tottenhall School in North London said “Goula Yianni is a lovely hard working member of staff here at Tottenhall and when her son became ill we just wanted to show her and her family how much we care about them – fundraising for The Leukaemia Soceity (UK) has certainly helped us to achieve this”.
The funds were raised by:
- Staff giving money to the fund instead of sending Christmas cards to each other.
- At a ‘Christmas Fun Afternoon’ cuddly toys donated by the parents were sold. (Leukaemia Society Christmas cards were sold then)
- The Friends of Tottenhall infant school and St. Michael’s School Junior School led by Mrs. Pat Burnett their Treasurer gave £120 from the money raised from the Fun afternoon
- St. Michaels at Bowes School sold charity badges and donated money totalling £25.00
- A collection box placed in the school office where visitors, parents and staff all contributed.
Schools….
The Leukaemia Society UK has a great network of supporting schools and we are always keen to work with new ones. The concept of children helping those less privileged than themselves is not only incredibly rewarding, but educational and fun too. Supporting The Leukaemia Society gives the children in your school the chance to learn about important social issues, and the money raised will go directly towards children with Leukaemia and other related diseases. For more information about how your school can support The Leukaemia Society or to arrange for someone to speak at your school please contact us.
Universities…
If you have got a Rag office which supports charities or you could persuade students to take part in a fundraising event we would love to hear from you.
