Charity head shave for cause close to family's heart

2 February 2009
The arrival of the first day of February saw George Soteriou, owner of G A Hair Sculpture in Barnet, preparing to hack off his long tresses and go completely bald.

Why would a man with a bounty of hair choose to shave his head? George was doing it in memory of his 21 year old nephew, Michael Spirou, who died of Leukaemia in October 2007.
Friends and family crammed into the hair salon to watch as George’s hair was strimmed and trimmed down .
Harry, George’s son, took great delight in snipping away great chunks of dad’s hair to cheers from the assembled audience. PLUCKY George just watched as his signature shoulder-length locks were chopped in the name of charity.

George had the drastic cut to raise money for The Leukaemia Society UK, and so far he has managed to raise around £2,000. If would like to donate to Georges's hairaising stunt visit G A Hair Sculpture in Barnet or donate direct to the charity by clicking Donations

Everyone at the Leukaemia Society would like to thank george and everyone who supported his fundraising effort.
