The event that took place in Grovelands Park in Winchmore Hill was tackled by many who know of someone affected by cancer, some took part in honor and memory of friends and family members who have suffered from leukaemia.
People walked, jogged and ran around the course in support of one common cause - to raise as much money as they could for the Leukaemia Society’s life saving work.
First across the finishing line was Catherine Perry who finished in 27.54min, Followed by Clair Clements at 29.20. Young Kyle Brown finished 4th. Check out the photos on the Media section of this website.
Each year around 7,400* people are diagnosed with leukaemia in the UK, that’s around 20 people every day.
Maria Nicolaou, Chairman of the Leukaemia Society (UK), said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who completed our Walk/Run. Money raised by the participants will help us to support people with Leukaemia and their families and also fund much-needed research into the condition. As well as the participants I’d also like to sincerely thank everyone who helped out with the walk, from local companies who sponsored the event including Aroma Patisserie, Magic Drinks, Beyond Certainty, Starbucks, Sunburst and Rude Health to Antony Alexandrou of Forcefed Media, Criticare Ambulance Service, all the volunteers and the Media - they truly are our unsung heroes every year. We don’t receive government funding so we need such support to continue our work in the fight against leukaemia and related cancers.”
